When dating the last time conducted you under the Influence?

As Advisor for both classroom and online alcohol awareness classes, one of the central themes of each course course, is the driving under the influence (DUI) of alcohol or other drugs. There were numerous studies on the subject with alarming statistics. I'm here to tell you that the truth would probably blow your mind. It is the first in a series of articles which will deal with how prevalent driving under the influence is.

Research of first-hand awareness of alcohol Classes

At each session of the classroom I of returning students on everything from the last time, they have led under the influence of how often, and the end destination makes a difference. I believe strongly in the power of statistics and what I found, it is frightening.

Not only were my students answered the question for themselves, but to prove my theory that the number of individuals of a vehicle under the influence is much greater than anticipated people, my students have also interviewed friends and family members.

There is no Place Like Home

There is no doubt that the people number drive a place under the influence is home! More than 90% of my students admit that they have led the drunk House. Home seems like the local reasonable for the majority of DUI destinations as it is the only place that we have in common and this is the place we love the end at the end of the evening.

Don't forget that almost each of my students had an arrest for an offence related to alcohol, lot of DUI. Despite the having already been busted, more than half of my students (56%) report that they had driven home after drinking in the past 30 days.

Older is not wiser

The old adage that, with age comes wisdom certainly is not the case for many alcoholics who continue to drink and drive. Those of my old class 50 and more, who admit to drinking alcohol regularly, almost all of them (94%) was a drunk driver in the past year.

While this number is shocking, what stands really, this is how many of them drink and drive every day.

History of Dale

A typical example is Dale, a plumbing contractor of 50 years who admits that he "loves having a few pop" every day. His alcohol consumption begins at the Office with a few cold beers over paperwork, before cutting a McDonalds of filling with vodka and Sprite. This happens every day.

Pressed by how much he drinks, Dale was admitted as the beer of 4 or 5 in the Office with "a good for" his fifth of vodka to return to the House, followed by more drinks at night. If he and his family will, of course, Dale does the steering wheel.

When driving and alcohol seem not dangerous

You see Dale, as many addicts, reached the point where driving and alcohol were more wrong, that it is the standard. Dale drink certainly grew over the years. He used to start only drink once it has obtained the home. Then a beer or two in the Office appeared to be going the paperwork easier. Right or nine ounces of alcohol before taking the House is now the standard.

When asked if he worried about to kill himself or others, the response of Dale remarkable is candid and really frightening. "I am afraid only on sobriety checkpoints", he said. "I am fine home by myself." I Won't hurt anyone, but I don't know if I have taken I'll fail a breathalyzer test. "But that does not mean that I am not OK to drive."

What? Did you just read that? He knows that he is above the legal limit, but it is still OK to drive. Only DUI traps worry about him.

We will continue to explore this concept that many people drink and drive on a daily basis. We will continue to look at the statistics of how many people actually drive under the influence.

Remember, alcohol is a serious drug and its use should be closely monitored. If you or someone you love has an alcohol problem, please seek help immediately. If you prefer total anonymity, there are classes of awareness alcohol and online.

Mike Miller is the Director of education to the class of alcohol online, a Web site specialized on online alcohol awareness classes and minor in possession classes.
