As instructor both in class and alcohol awareness classes online for no is not a session where my students and I engage in a debate hosted on decision making. With regard to alcohol awareness classes and driving under the influence (DUI), the decision-making is integral does not become a statistic!
Why the decision-making is Important
Life is all in the decision-making process. It has been estimated that the average person makes decisions of 15 000 and 25 000 each day! From the moment you wake up and decide what leg to the floor first to what foot will receive a sock, to the time that you close your eyes and the fall in a sleep deep and drowsiness, you make decisions throughout the day.
Each decision is also important to decide whether to take the wheel after having too much to drink? Obviously not! But one of our great given by God gift is the power of free will, to make our own decisions.
We have the power to decide and control our destiny. This may be true on what can't us, as the decisions and actions of others certainly play a role in our lives as well. However, we have the power to decide not to drink and drive. We have the power to not drink. We all have the power to decide to stop drinking if it has become a problem.
History of Dani
Dani is a 16 year old student, I had earlier this year in one of my courses. The second year in high school, Dani has never been well for his parents. It made its tasks and has always been very respectful of his parents and others.
The change has occurred in its last year of high school, 8th grade. His best friend had just away and it was related to friendship with a friend from high school in the street. She was first hesitant because she knew that her new friend, Ann, had a reputation for being "bizarre". But they soon became fast friends.
Ann parents is divorced, and her mother worked two jobs. Ann and Dani found only in the home often. Youth and lack of supervision lead to no good - and this is the case here.
It was about three months in their friendship that alcohol is entered at the scene. Dani came during an afternoon to see his girlfriend. Ann had SearchText that it remained the home of the school. When Dani at home, she was shocked to find bottles of alcohol open on the kitchen counter. Ann slept on the couch. She was drink!
Dani admits that she had never tried a drop of alcohol before that and was curious. Ann encouraged his friend to try Peppermint brandy. Dani was terrified the taste would be horrible, but instead found she liked rather taste. Five shots later, that it has been totally blown and uncontrollable laughter. His first experience would be positive as it liquidated be ill, or does it catch.
The snowball
These sessions drinking the afternoon became more frequent. There seemed to be an unlimited supply of alcohol and absolutely no control. Dani believes that she and Ann got bu approximately three times a week - in the school. In high school the problem only worsened.
For the moment Dani had already obtained not in any trouble due to alcohol. She always appreciated buzz and only a few bu enough times to be sick. The first time was when Ann spoke to him in his first cigarette smoking. She was soon drinking and smoking two to three days per week.
The wrong decision to start drinking had aggravated in a bad diction to keep alcohol and start smoking. It is only a matter of time before it catches up with her. Believe it or not, she said that she never thought that anything that is negative happen to his consumption of alcohol.
Fast forward to his sixteenth birthday
Although his notes had slipped and she became a little remote, his parents had no idea how bad the situation had become. I met her two parents and they claim that they had no idea that she was drinking or smoking. For his birthday his parents presented him a 3 year Volkswagen beetle. Everything was good.
To celebrate it and Ann decided to drive out of range. When they had laid out their towels, Ann fired a vial of her beach bag - filled with Peppermint Schnapps chilled. Bad decision. They both took a swig of the vial. It tasted cold and gave them an immediate head rush. Bad decision.
Three hours later and a finite flask, girls started back on 50 miles return journey. Bad decision.
Stuck at a red light, both laughing about what a great day to be, and how they must spend that them same summer. The light is green, the car in front Dani started forward. It was Dani. The car to stop. Dani did not. Its new Beetle broken on the back of the truck.
The cops were called. Dani felt as a beverage. Dani was arrested for DUI.
It was a series of bad decisions that led to Dani in this way. Although she does not understand his motives for drinking, she realizes that she will never able to lead a normal life with alcohol as a partner. At the time that she took my alcohol awareness class, was sober for six months. Not surprisingly, Ann does not include the sobriety of his friend and has since evolved to drag with older children who also love to drink and smoke.
Dani has made a good choice when she chooses her health and get his life on his best friend that would be a bad influence. Life is choices. It is important to make the smart decision and choices that will positively affect your life. A single decision, you must always you is not drink and drive.
Alcohol is a drug and as such must be used only for moderation. If you or someone you love has a problem with alcohol I encourage you to ask for help immediately. If you prefer total anonymity there are also online alcohol awareness classes.
