Alcohol education Classes can help to stop the lies (part 2)

All alcohol has a few common characteristics. Of course, drink too much alcohol and depends on the poison are one thing. Lies and excuses are two other things that they share all as well.

As Advisor for both classroom and online alcohol awareness classes, I hear the lies and excuses people with alcohol problems say themselves and those they love every day. They even try those same lies on me and their classmates.

Just last night, I had one of my students which is one of the most progressive stages of alcoholism lie to us. Martin is a really sad story. Its history is a casual use how transformed into horrible abuse and now are all that there was smoke, mirrors, lies and excuses.

History of Martin

Martin is the owner of a small business for 36 years. Martin was born in Bosnia and was one of the few members of his family to survive severe oppression. Two of his brothers and sisters and his father never made to America. Immigrating to the United States at the age of 10 he has never been easy. It was difficult to learn a new culture. Learn a new language was something few of us can say that we had to experience.

While the other children were outside and play, Martin takes English classes, becoming commonly 2 years before he had been in the country. Father of Martin was an alcoholic before it disappeared during the Bosnian-Serb conflict. Upon his arrival in America, it does remember sobre mother.

When his mother failed if poster for one of gymnastics at school meetings, he swore that he would never drink alcohol. It was the first real lie that he recalls telling himself. Since then, more than 15 years ago, the lies have piled up to where he knows even that it is really more.

Big lie # 1 - "I only toss socially."

By its final year of high school to all his friends were drinking at parties. He remembers the logic behind his taking his first glass - a shot of vodka Smirnoff. Before his first glass, trying to strengthen his negative attitude towards the alcohol-"I hate the taste of alcohol and it ruined my mother."

Many drinks in one of the rooms of the House, all he remembered later, were drinking games and all the fun he had. Now the reasoning become "was not so bad." I don't even remember it bad taste after a few. It was fun. "It is probably the last thing said the truth, he said he was on alcohol.

The first alarm clock

As most drinkers, Martin does not have a really negative experience with alcohol for a period of time. It was almost four years later, as a senior college which arose his first "real" problem with alcohol. Martin went to a University with a policy of zero tolerance for breaking the law. Martin and some of his roommates were drinking and were relieve themselves outside the Fraternity House when the police arrived.

Zero tolerance means that he and his companions were expelled. He has not only lost his scholarship of gymnastics, but finds himself with no career path. His drinking continued despite the absence of the parties to go.

The second Wake Up call

After working for a company of landscaping for a few years, he decided to start his own business. Martin de jure it was completely "BS" was end - and everyone blamed of his housemates, the brothers of the fraternity to rent-a-cops in his college town which he kicked out of school.

At the age of 29, he received his first offence for driving under the influence (DUI). Naturally there is lies and excuses for this as well. He "kicked ass" on the sobriety test. It does not fall on the side, followed by the fingers of Constable of police and even recite the alphabet backward (he memorized it College).

Unfortunately he felt so confident after sobriety test on he took the breathalyzer and breathed a.10. His excuse was of course that he had only a few beers.

Of course, there was a third and fourth wake up call, an another DUI and a charge of domestic violence where alcohol is concerned, which finally had him in my classroom. He always complains that all these problems are not with his consumption of alcohol. He continues to believe the lies he tells himself, even as his company began to crumble.

Martin is a perfect example of how alcoholics can lie and blame someone and everything except alcohol on their problems. It seems to be the premise that if you continue to do so in the same way and they do not work, continue to try the same method.

Remember, alcohol is a serious drug and its use should be closely monitored. If you or someone you love has an alcohol problem, please seek help immediately. If you prefer total anonymity, there are classes of awareness alcohol and online.

Mike Miller is the Director of education to the class of alcohol online, a website specialized on minors and alcohol awareness classes in the classes of possession.
